Just wanted to do a quick “Shout out” to Heartland Brewery and New World Stages. These are two of our greatest Pogby Partners. The feedback, support, ideas and energy from these two groups associated with our mission has made a huge impact to our company. We’re very fortunate to be working with all of our Pogby venues and planners, and plan to continue to drive the product to meet industry needs based on feedback.

Most of us wake up each day with the full intention to be completely productive or at least get the most out of our day as possible. Some start with task lists that just seem to either never change or never leave the kitchen counter. We have personal lists, work list, phone call lists and we all search for the best tool to organize all these lists. I wish I could tell you that I was going to expose an organizational tool that does it all, but that is not the case. Sometimes going back to the old fashion pen and paper seems like the best solution, but I have to agree the computer and even excel or word can’t get left behind on the kitchen counter. Hey just email it to yourself and carry it on your phone all day. Anyway, as I search for the most efficient way to balance family and work, in my option it all comes down to time management. In my heart I truly believe as I am going through the process of learning about all the web based tools available, Pogby has the best meeting and event management tool out there for venues. I am truly enlightened. It is easy for me to offer to the industry a useful, desperately needed management tool that can help venues build their business and organize their professional day. I am grateful for the opportunity to wake up, and be proud to go out on the streets of New York offering a one of a kind meeting and event management tool to venues.

As I jump into the world of event and meeting planning, I am meeting a vast array of talent and personalities. I have spent the last 20 years of my career in the marketing and advertising field, but all within the educational, healthcare and financial industry. I am eager and excited to bring my years of experience from uncountable tradeshows and events, into the Pogby world. As you can imagine, the events that I am used to planning and attending, were completely different then the trade shows and meetings that revolve around the professional planner industry. I would like to say thank you to all those people that I have met so far and I am looking forward to what appears to be a fantastic roller coaster ride.

As a true believer in technology and innovation, I am inspired by ideas that make my life easier and make me more productive. Efficiency I believe is the key to productivity. By definition, efficiency is the accomplishment of or ability to accomplish a job with a minimum expenditure of time and effort. Therefore if I am more efficient, I am more productive – I am able to accomplish more things, in less time, which leads to me having more time to do more things.
When I think about technology, I think about all the efficiencies it has allowed me to create and all the time it has allowed me to save. Let’s look at a typical weekend in Liz’s life… Last Saturday I woke up and ordered my breakfast using Seamlessweb.com, called a friend in California and video chatted on Skype, looked for flights to San Francisco and bought a ticket with reward miles on American Airlines, ate my breakfast while watching Modern Family on Hulu, made a reservation for brunch on OpenTable and finally downloaded new songs from iTunes, created a new playlist and uploaded it to my iPhone – all in less than 60 minutes. How long do you think this would have taken 5 years ago? What about 2 years ago? Was it even possible?
As Peter Drucker, the man who invented management, once said “Efficiency is doing better what is already being done“. In some form or another all the activities I did in an hour last Sunday you could do before and, maybe in part, online. You could call and order take-out, you could call and buy a plane ticket, I could wait till the regularly scheduled time to watch the TV show. But the fact companies have seen the opportunity to create more efficiency by offering services online to speed up these process is key. They have created a world where now I am in control and where I can accompolish the things I need to do on my time table.
I feel very fortunate to be working with the frontrunner of a new technology that is creating efficiency. Two months ago, I was in Buenos Aires. One month ago, I was in San Francisco. Two weeks ago, I arrived in New York City. Traveling, meeting people, eating and challenging myself everyday is what I live for. My latest challenge, besides the 6th floor walk-up I recently moved into, is transforming the private events and meeting industry. How? Pogby.
